Danielle Lyon slammed out seven hits Thursday, May 3, as Holdingford swept Eden Valley-Watkins in a doubleheader.
In the 12-10 six inning win in the first game Madi Thorson pitched a complete game scattering five hits, but walking six and striking out two. Danielle Lyon had a 3-for-3 day and walked once. Three times she crossed the plate and she drove in most of the Husker runs with her home run and triple.
In the 21-6, four inning win in the second game Kendra Gerads allowed just one hit. She did walk seven, but struck out four batter. Lyon remained hot in that game going 4-for-4. She wasn't the only one hitting. Brea Worlie finished 3-for-3 and a 2-for-4 day was recorded by Jenna Butler.
Pierz Games
Holdingford got involved in long games Monday, April 30, in a doubleheader at Pierz.
The first game, a 3-2 loss went 14 inning. Thorson pitched a complete game. She did give up eight hits, walked 11 and hit two batters, she also got out of jams with 11 strikeouts and a good defense.
Holdingford had nine hits in the game, but they were scattered across the 14 innings by Pierz's Brittney Poser who had 14 strikeouts.
The second game never got done that evening. It was called after four innings at 5-5 because of darkness. The game was completed Tuesday, May 1, at Little Falls. Pierz scored four runs to take a 9-4 lead and won the game also.
