The Huskers girls basketball team went 2-1 last week, all on the road Holdingford's first game of the week was a 49-41 nonconference win at Royalton Feb. 7. The Huskers led by six at the half (26-20) and outscored the Royals 23-21 in the second.
Three Huskers hit double figures - Carolynn Becker 12 and Marissa Gerads and Johanna Merten, 10 each.
Holdingford was 15-47 on field goal shooting for about 32 percent. They made 17 of 22 free throws for 77 percent. They also had seven fewer turnovers than the Royals. Holdingford had a couple of days off and then travelled to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted where they won 46-37 in a Central Minnesota Conference game.
Neither team shot that well with the Huskers making 29 percent (17-58) of their field goals and the Lakers 31 percent, 14-44.
Rachel Hellmann led Holdingford with 10 points.
Holdingford finished off the week with a Saturday, Feb. 11 game at non-conference Milaca.
The Wolves led 30-20 at the half and outscored the Huskers by 20 in the second, 33-23.
Merten was the top scorer for Holdingford with nine points.
At the end of last week, the Huskers were 10-11 and 6-6 in the conference. Holdingford traveled to Sauk Centre Feb. 14 and will host Staples-Motley Feb. 16. in a makeup game rescheduled from Dec. 16. Holdingford will host Kimball Area Feb. 21.
