The Holdingford Huskers baseball team scored a run in the second and another in the third for a 2-1 win over Royalton.
Connor Breth pitched the win for Holdingford, who played host for the April 22 game.
Drew Lange, Luke Bieniek, Dierks Opatz and Nolan Boeckermann each got a hit for Holdingford, with Masyn Patrick and Boeckermann scoring runs. Bieniek was credited with Holdingford's RBI.
Breth went 5 2/3 innings. He scattered six hits and gave up an earned run, which came in the fifth inning, while striking out seven and walking three. David Heinen pitched 1 1/3 innings, giving up a hit and a walk while striking out two.
ACGC doubleheader
The Huskers made a successful road trip to Kingery Field in Atwater, sweeping the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Falcons 7-2 and 6-2 April 18.
In the first game, the Huskers broke a 2-2 tie in the third by scoring four runs in the fourth and adding a run in the fifth for the 7-2 win. Holdingford took advantage of seven ACGC errors with hits off the bats of Bieniek, Jaxon Bartkowicz and Dominick Hoikka.
Chase Lyon got the win, going five innings and striking out six. Heinen pitched the final two frames, striking out three.
The Huskers scored four runs in the second inning and added one in the fourth and sixth in the second game. ACGC's runs came in the seventh inning.
Bieniek - who drilled a double - got two hits, while Patrick, Hoikka, Bartkowicz, Breth and Mavrick Novitzki logged a hit each.
Lange started and got the win. He pitched five excellent innings, striking out nine. Opatz came in for the two innings of relief.
