The Huskers had one of their best games of the year in a 47-44 loss Jan. 10 to Pierz.
Led by 12 points from Tyson Patrick and 11 by Tyler Huls, the Huskers battled in a tight game. For much of the first half, the score was tied at 20 before Pierz took a 24-20 lead into halftime.
The Pioneers expanded it by two, 28-20, before the Huskers came back strong. They ran off eight straight points to tie the game. From then on, it was close.
The Huskers trailed by two, 46-44, with 30 seconds left and were forced to foul Pierz. The Pioneers hit one shot, but the Huskers rebounded the second. A last second three-point shot hit the rim, but did not go down.
Osakis 62, Holdingford 41
The Huskers had 11 points from Patrick, who hit three three-point shots Jan. 8 in a 62-41 loss to Osakis. Jake Ethen and Christian Willoughby both contributed eight points.
Willoughby and Hunter Welle both had five rebounds. Willoughby also blocked two shots.
Holdingford is in Eden Valley Friday, Jan. 18 and Pequot Lakes Tuesday, Jan. 22.
